This year Rose Hill Elementary is focusing on math. To help students’ perceptions of math and their academic achievement in the area, the school partnered with Lake Washington High School students to create an after-school tutoring program.

Audubon Elementary explored Black History Month with an all-school assembly. Fourth graders read biographies of notable Black leaders, scholars, artists and athletes that they researched and wrote. The school also welcomed special guest speakers from Lake Washington High School’s Black Student Union (BSU).

The Eastside Native American Education Program celebrated Indigenous Peoples Day with a celebration held outside Lake Washington High School. They want to bring awareness to the 91 tribes in the program by asking “Am I Enough?"

Lynn Kohlwes has been teaching in Lake Washington School District (bbin体育官网) for 39 years. This year, her hard work has paid off as she is recognized as Elementary PE Teacher of the year for Washington.

It is one thing to be nominated at the state level. It is a whole other thing to win on the national level. That is exactly what happened to Juanita High School teacher Kei Tsukamaki in September.

Five students from Lake Washington School District (bbin体育官网) put on an impressive display during this year’s National History Day competition. A team from Nikola Tesla STEM High School took home first place while a student from Evergreen Middle School placed second.

The King County Green Schools (KCGS) program recently handed out recognition to schools for their work in resource conservation. Several schools from Lake Washington School District (bbin体育官网) were acknowledged for their efforts as part of this program.

Three Lake Washington School District teams made it to the national Science Olympiad competition this year. Two middle school teams, Timberline and Redmond, participated in the virtual event May 9-14. Additionally, Nikola Tesla STEM High School was the only bbin体育官网 high school team that competed.
