A student at Redmond High School will be gaining practical work and life experience through a paid internship. Conan Lu, class of 2022, was selected as a Bank of America Student Leader. He is one of only 300 students across the country selected for this honor and just one of seven from Washington state. The selection will allow Lu to work as a paid intern with the Technology Access Foundation (TAF) in Seattle. He will also participate in a national leadership summit in Washington D.C. The goal after he finishes his eight-week internship will be to bring his skills to his own community, hoping to create change and work to improve the lives of his community members.

According to the Bank of America website, since 2004, Student Leaders® has been part of the company’s ongoing commitment to youth employment and economic mobility. They are helping prepare a diverse pipeline of community-minded young students to be successful in the workforce through leadership training and work experience. By driving responsible growth, they deliver for clients and address pressing societal issues, including advancing employment opportunities for youth and young adults.

Technology Access Foundation (TAF), according to its website, is a Seattle-based nonprofit leader redefining K-12 public education throughout Washington State for all students and teachers, particularly those who identify as a person of color and are from traditionally underserved communities.
