Award reflects district’s strategic goal of being fiscally responsible

Redmond, Wash. – Lake Washington School District’s (bbin体育官网’s) 2018-19 Budget has earned the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) Meritorious Budget Award (MBA). This award promotes and recognizes excellence in budget presentation in school districts. bbin体育官网 has received this award two years in a row.

Two years ago, bbin体育官网 received the Pathway to the Meritorious Budget Award for the 2016-17 budget. The Pathway was the first step towards earning the full Meritorious Budget Award. Last year, it earned a Meritorious Budget Award. 

“We’re proud to receive this award for a second year as we continue to focus on effective ways to communicate with our community,” noted Dr. Jane Stavem, Superintendent. “We want our budget documents to be understandable, and our staff works hard to make sure documents are accessible and easy to read.”

“This budget document helps us to be transparent to our community on how we use their tax dollars,” said Associate Superintendent Barbara Posthumus. “This award reflects our district’s commitment to sound fiscal management and budgetary policies.”  

“Districts that apply to the MBA or Pathway to MBA programs recognize their community needs to be able to easily find and understand important district financial information,” ASBO International Director of Recognition Programs Molly Barrie explains. “Awarded budget documents are accurate, easy to read, and communicate the district’s goals and objectives.”
